What is a Social Enterprise ? A social enterprise is a revenue-generating business, often operated by a non-profit organization, with the twin goals of providing revenue for the organization while creating positive community change and/or employing people who are typically excluded from the mainstream economy.
EVERYBODY WINS! Electronics recycling
Collects donations of computer equipment and other electronics. Items are inspected for usability, returned to service whenever possible or recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. Heartwood's own social enterprise!
OC TRANSPO LOST & FOUND
Heartwood has managed the OC Transpo Lost & Found since 2001. We offer individuals who experience barriers to employment the opportunity to learn essential job skills while working in a supportive environment.
ASL RAPP
An ASL learning resource and storytelling program designed to support ASL/English language development in families with children who are deaf, hard of hearing or language delayed. ASL RAPP is part of ALSO, a Heartwood member group.
ECOEQUITABLE
Offers sewing training and employment support for people in need, especially immigrant women. Contract sewing, public sewing courses and much more. EE is a Heartwood member group.
